About Rolfing®
What is Rolfing®?
Named after its founder, Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Rolfing® Structural Integration is a form of bodywork that reorganizes the connective tissues, called fascia, that permeate the entire body.
More than fifty years ago, Dr. Rolf recognized that the body is inherently a system of seamless networks of tissues rather than a collection of separate parts. These connective tissues, called fascia, surround, support and penetrate all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Rolfing® works on this web-like complex of connective tissues to release, realign, and balance the whole body. Essentially, the Rolfing® process enables the body to regain the natural integrity of its form, thus enhancing postural efficiency and freedom of movement.

In other words, Rolfing®, a system of strategic interventions in habitual body use patterns is a means to organize and integrate the moving parts into a better functioning, cohesive whole.
Rolfing® is going to be like massage or a bodywork session that doesn’t only focus on the immediate aches and pains. We need to address those as well as the underlying cause from the imbalance in the system that precipitated the wear and tear, or the pain in different areas.

“ As in all matter organized into biological units, there is a pattern, an order in human bodies. Rolfers make a life study of relating bodies and their fields to the earth and its gravity field. We so organize the body that the gravity field can reinforce the body’s energy field. ”
